Who is the United Cajun Navy?
United Cajun Navy is a grassroots nonprofit renowned for rapid, volunteer-driven disaster response. Originating from Louisiana, the organization gained national recognition after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Equipped with boats, trucks, and resolve, we provide search and rescue, humanitarian aid, and logistical support during floods, hurricanes, wildfires, and other catastrophes.

Do I get paid as a volunteer?
No, United Cajun Navy is a nonprofit and all of our responders are volunteers. People join our missions out of compassion and service, not for financial compensation. However, the experience of helping neighbors in need is often described as life-changing and deeply rewarding.
Do you provide lodging for volunteers?
Lodging is not guaranteed. In many deployments, volunteers may need to arrange their own accommodations or rely on temporary shelters, RVs, or community housing when available. We do our best to support volunteers with logistics, but part of the commitment to disaster response is being flexible and ready for challenging conditions.
How is the United Cajun Navy funded?
We rely on donations from individuals, businesses, and community partners to fund our operations. Contributions go directly toward rescue missions, supplies, equipment, and community support.
